The chart gives information about the process of recycling wasted glass bottles.

Overall, it is clear that there are three main stages in the process of recycling such bottles, which begins with the collection of old glass bottles and ends with the sale of new ones in the supermarket.

Looking at the chart more closely, we can see that in the first stage some glass bottles are gathered at a collection site and then loaded onto a truck, which then transports them to a cleaning plant. In the second stage, these bottles are washed by high pressured water in this plant, before being classified into three types according to color: brown, green and clear. Next, they are sent to three respective recycling plants.

 Subsequently, the bottles arrive at a furnace where they are heated, melting into recycled liquid glass. After the molten glass is mixed with new liquid glass, the mixture is then sent to a mould, in which new bottles are formed. Eventually, these new bottles appear in supermarkets. This cycle then starts anew.

 The chart provides information about changes in waste production in six nations from 1980 to 2000.

Overall, it is clear that there was an upward trend in waste production across all the countries except Korea. Moreover, the US is the most notable country as its waste production was consistently the highest over the period.

Looking at the table more closely, we can see that the US’s waste production increased from 131mt to 151mt in the first ten years (1980-1990) and recorded a more dramatic increase of 41mt to a staggering 192mt in 2000. In contrast, there was an increase of only 4.4mt in Ireland’s waste production (0.6mt -- 5mt) during the period.

The chart also demonstrates that Japan registered a growth of 25mt to reach 53mt between 1980 and 2000 while Korea saw a decrease of 9mt to 19mt over the same period. Regarding the remaining two nations, increases of 2.6mt and 3mt was seen in their waste production, with the figures rising to 6.6mt in Poland and 5mt in Portugal.
